Mining firm Gold Fields has unveiled a major sponsorship deal valued at USD 5 million over two years to support football development in Ghana.
The agreement, announced on Friday at the company’s headquarters in Accra, will benefit the Black Stars, Black Queens, Black Challenge, and the Ghana Women’s Premier League.
The package is set to deliver substantial financial and logistical backing to the national teams while also strengthening the growth of women’s football across the country.
The launch event was attended by officials from the Ghana Football Association, representatives of Gold Fields, government officials, and key stakeholders within the football community.
The sponsorship arrives at a pivotal moment, with the Black Stars preparing for the FIFA World Cup and the Black Queens gearing up for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The inclusion of the Black Challenge team has drawn praise, reflecting a stronger commitment to inclusivity and the development of para sports in Ghana.
The deal is also expected to enhance the visibility and progress of the Ghana Women’s Premier League as the women’s game continues to grow in prominence.
At the unveiling, officials described the agreement as one of the most significant corporate investments in Ghanaian football in recent years, expressing confidence that it will positively influence performance and long-term development.
The partnership further highlights the role of corporate Ghana in advancing sports, with hopes that other institutions will follow suit in supporting football and other disciplines nationwide.
