Roger De Sa: It’s a privilege to join Ghana for World Cup”.

New Black Stars assistant coach Roger De Sa says he is honored to be part of Ghana’s technical team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The South African coach joined the team’s staff in April and will work as Carlos Queiroz’s assistant during the tournament in North America.

De Sa shared that Queiroz reached out to him directly with the offer.
“I got the message overnight. Carlos asked if I was ready for another big challenge and told me to call him when I woke up,” he told SportsBoom.co.za.

“He explained that Ghana needed his services and that he would want me to assist him. It wasn’t a difficult decision at all.”

The two coaches have worked together before with several national teams, such as South Africa, Egypt, Portugal, and Iran.

De Sa, who is 61, said his wife was the first person he told after hearing the news.
“I read the message early in the morning and immediately told my wife there was a strong chance I’d be heading to another World Cup. It would be my seventh national team. She’s used to it by now,” he said.

He said that representing a national team at the World Cup is always a special experience.
“It’s always a great honor to be part of such a fantastic team at the World Cup. It’s a privilege, and I intend to make the most of it.”

Ghana will be making their fifth World Cup appearance and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.

The Black Stars will start their tournament against Panama on June 17, then play England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

To prepare, Queiroz’s team will play friendly matches against Mexico later this month and Wales on June 2.
