New Black Stars goalkeepers coach Daniel Gasper set to arrive in Ghana this weekend ahead of 2026 World Cup preparations.
Daniel Gasper has joined the technical team following the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as head coach, assuming the role of lead goalkeepers trainer.
The Portuguese coach is expected to hit the ground running upon arrival, with reports suggesting he will first meet Benjamin Asare in Accra before traveling to Europe to engage with other goalkeepers in contention, including Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang.
He will also connect with the rest of the backroom staff, among them former Ghana international Fatau Dauda, who has been named assistant goalkeepers trainer.
Gasper arrives with a wealth of experience, having worked with clubs and national teams across Europe and the Middle East. He is particularly noted for his long-standing collaboration with Queiroz, having served as a trusted goalkeeping coach during his stints with Iran, Colombia, and Egypt.
His appointment is expected to strengthen Ghana’s technical setup and elevate the performance of the goalkeeping unit ahead of the tournament.
The Black Stars will step up preparations with a friendly against Mexico later this month, before concluding their warm-up schedule against Wales on June 2.
Ghana, four-time African champions, will be making their fifth World Cup appearance after being drawn in Group L alongside the England national football team, Croatia national football team, and Panama national football team.
The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, followed by fixtures against England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
