FC AshantiGold 04 secure Ghana Premier League promotion after overpowering Skyy FC

FC AshantiGold 04 have earned a spot in next season’s Ghana Premier League after beating Skyy FC 4-1. With three games left in Zone II of the Access Bank Division One League, they have already secured their promotion.

The dominant performance caps an outstanding campaign for the Obuasi-based side, who have consistently shown quality, resilience, and a winning mentality throughout the season. Under the guidance of Abdul Karim Zito, the team has developed into one of the division’s most formidable outfits, blending attacking strength with defensive discipline on its path to the top flight.

Their latest victory served as a strong statement, as Zito’s side delivered a commanding display when it mattered most. Clinically efficient in attack and in control throughout, they left little doubt about their readiness for Premier League football. Securing promotion with games to spare highlights their consistency and high performance throughout the season.

This achievement is also a big moment for football in the Adansiman area, as top-level football is coming back to one of Ghana’s most passionate communities.

Although the club uses the AshantiGold name and is based in Obuasi, it is legally a different club from the former Ashanti Gold SC. The original club was suspended and relegated to Division Two by the Ghana Football Association following a match-fixing scandal during the 2020/21 season.

FC AshantiGold 04 is a rebrand of Bekwai Heroes FC, formed to compete in the 2025/26 Division One League and represent the Adansiman community. The GFA has clarified that it is a distinct legal entity and does not inherit any sanctions or liabilities from the former club.

Now that promotion is secured, the team will turn its attention to building a stronger squad for the Premier League. While they have reached their first goal, Zito and his players now face the bigger test of showing they can compete with Ghana’s top teams.
