Marmoush envisions Egypt lifting the AFCON trophy and conquering the World Cup stage

Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush has set the stage ablaze with a fearless proclamation before the Africa Cup of Nations, declaring that Egypt is destined not just to seize the continental crown but to take on the world at the FIFA World Cup.

Marmoush told Manchester City’s website he firmly believes in Egypt’s quality and ambition. The star forward boldly set lofty goals, stating, “We will win the African Cup of Nations, without a doubt, and then we will win the World Cup.” Considering our players, team, and quality, we, the Egyptian national team, are the best in Africa”.

Marmoush’s confidence is a sign of the increasing optimism for the Pharaohs, who have been strong in recent international games. Egypt qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, proving their class and cementing their place among Africa’s football elite. Thanks to a combination of experienced players and promising youngsters, the team is a serious AFCON contender.

Egypt is historically the most successful AFCON nation, with a record seven wins, including three in a row from 2006 to 2010. Marmoush’s remarks reflect the goal of reclaiming the top spot in African football.

With the Pharaohs set to face Zimbabwe in their AFCON opener, Marmoush’s energy should boost team morale and thrill supporters. Although his World Cup prediction seems ambitious, it shows a desire to succeed. The objective for Egypt is obvious: conquer Africa, then project that confidence worldwide.
