Ian Wright hits back at Jamie Carragher and Rio Ferdinand over Arsenal celebration criticism

Ian Wright has hit out at fellow pundits and rival fans for criticising Arsenal’s celebrations after Sunday’s win over Liverpool and says Mikel Arteta and his players are well within their rights to enjoy the moment.

The Gunners could have fallen eight points behind the Premier League leaders but secured a 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard to move within two points of the Merseysiders.

There were wild scenes of celebration during and after the contest, with skipper Martin Odegaard criticised by Jamie Carragher for taking photos of club photographer Stuart MacFarlane.

Gary Neville also felt the celebrations were a sign of immaturity, while Rio Ferdinand took aim at Arteta for ‘doing laps of the ground’ and celebrating as though Arsenal had won the league.
