Hosting rights secured: Ghana to stage 2027 U‑20 AFCON

Ghana has been officially named host of the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, following an announcement by Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku on social media.

The president of the Ghana Football Association, who is also Vice President of the Confederation of African Football, shared the news on Facebook. This adds to Ghana’s reputation as a host of major continental tournaments.

The tournament will feature some of Africa’s top young players and give emerging stars a chance to stand out on the international stage.

Ghana has a strong history in youth football and has done well in this tournament. The Black Satellites are one of Africa’s most successful teams and won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009.

Hosting the 2027 edition is expected to further support football development in the country while also contributing to infrastructure growth and local economic activity.

This gives Ghana another chance to show it can organize big tournaments, as it has done with past CAF and FIFA events.

Additional information regarding venues, schedules, and tournament logistics is expected to be announced by CAF in due course.
