Former Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom requests time to refund US$8,000 fraud proceeds

Ex-Ghana player Samuel Inkoom has appealed to the Kwabenya Circuit Court for an extension until October 31 to reimburse the US$8,000 he reportedly scammed by two individuals.
Inkoom, the 2009 U-20 World Cup winner and Ghana representative in the 2010 World Cup, appeared in court again, accused of defrauding through deception.
During the court hearing, Inkoom stated that he had listed his properties for sale in order to raise the required funds for the refund.
Judge Ms. Mavis Bedjrah approved his plea. Chief Inspector Gershon Togo Achondo, leading the prosecution, presented the case against Inkoom. He explained that complainants Doris Dankwa and Seth Osei Addai approached him for assistance in moving from Dubai to the USA.
According to reports, Inkoom allegedly stated that he had a company that could obtain visas for travel and requested each person to pay $4,000, which was transferred through John Dadzie, Dankwa’s father.
Despite receiving $8,000, Inkoom failed to deliver the promised visas and ignored multiple attempts to reach him.
The police repeatedly invited him, but he didn’t show up, so they sent him a summons to court via mobile phone.
The allegations against the former football star have brought significant attention to the case.
