Carlos Queiroz says his future as Ghana coach now depends on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after the Black Stars lost 4-2 to The Gambia on Tuesday.
The Black Stars lost a two-goal lead at the Accra Sports Stadium and suffered their second straight defeat in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
After the match, Queiroz told reporters he knew the result would raise questions about his job, but said the GFA would decide whether he stays.
“After a result like this, it is easy to say the coach should resign. But that is the decision for the GFA to analyze and decide to stick with me or not,” he said.
Ghana still has no points after two Group C matches. They started their campaign with a 2-0 loss to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké.
The Portuguese coach also said he is ready to resign if that would help solve the problems facing Ghanaian football.
“If my resignation will be the solution for Ghana football, I’d be the first one to resign. But this is a decision I’ll leave for the federation,” he added.
The GFA must now decide on the team’s direction as the Black Stars look to get their qualifying campaign back on track when matches continue in November.
