Otto Addo’s performance is not impressive so far – Kwesi Nyantakyi

Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former GFA president, feels Otto Addo has been unsuccessful as the Black Stars coach.
The 49-year-old coach, appointed in March 2024 on a three-year contract, faces intense scrutiny for the national team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON—their first absence in 20 years.
After six qualifier matches, the Black Stars finished bottom of Group F with three points and no victories.
The senior national team had a poor football calendar year, winning only two out of 14 games, with Addo in charge for 10 of those matches.
A former CAF 1st Vice President says recent results indicate the ex-Borussia Dortmund manager’s poor performance.
“With the performance of the Black Stars under Otto Addo, everything shows that he is not doing well,” he told Asempa FM.
“The last time Ghana failed to qualify for an AFCON tournament was twenty years ago, and under Otto Addo, we did not qualify, so he has not performed.
“I am not in the position to say he has to be sacked or stay, but the numbers are there for all of us to see,” he added.
The GFA is yet to decide Otto Addo’s future with the Black Stars following their failure to qualify for AFCON.
Nevertheless, the Ghanaian national football team will regroup in March to play their fifth and sixth 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
