Ghana faces Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago in Unity Cup 2025

Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago will participate in the Unity Cup 2025, a celebration of African and Caribbean football.
“The Best in the West—The Afro Classico Contest” will feature two high-stakes semi-finals, fueling intense competition between regions.
Trinidad & To and Jamaica will meet for the first time in the UK at the TriniJam Derby on May 27th. The long-standing rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana will resume with a match on May 28th.
The competition wraps up on Saturday, May 31st, with a doubleheader: a third-place game followed by the Unity Cup 2025 championship final.
Despite Nigeria’s status as a two-time champion and having a higher FIFA ranking, Ghana hopes to recreate its 4-1 win against Nigeria in London. Jamaica is looking for payback after its recent near-miss.
In a pre-tournament announcement, AfroSport CEO Rotimi Pedro excitedly declared the revival of the Unity Cup: “The Unity Cup is back!” We’re delighted to announce that after much work, The Unity Cup 2025 will bring top-flight international football to African and Caribbean fans.
Andy Howes, AfroSport Co-Director, emphasized the tournament’s cultural and commercial significance, noting its importance to African and Caribbean football’s growing commercial value and the expanding Black English football fanbase.
