Former vice president Fred Pappoe says the GFA should prioritize Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualification.
He commented after the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for AFCON 2025—their first miss in 20 years, marked by three draws and three losses.
Group F’s bottom was where the team landed, having only earned three points.
Pappoe wants the GFA leadership to qualify for the Mundial, with the qualifiers set to resume in March.
He believes failing to qualify will be very costly for the nation.
“Qualification to the 2026 World Cup should be our top priority. It will be more expensive not to qualify,” he told Accra-based Original FM.
Nine points each put Ghana and Comoros in a tie for first place in Group I after four games. Ghana is in second place.
The Black Stars face Chad and Madagascar in their fifth and sixth matches.
