Barcelona’s recent unveiling of Ghanaian defender David Oduro has left him thrilled about his move to the club.
Barcelona has made three new signings, one of which is Oduro, who transferred from Dreams FC, alongside Abdul Aziz Issah.
Premier League side Accra Lions signed Oduro, who was very impressive the past two seasons.
He made history by signing a three-year contract with Barcelona as the first player to be transferred directly from a Ghanaian club.
“First of all, I’m very, very happy because getting this opportunity is not very easy, especially from Ghana here. So, for me, I’m thrilled,” he told Sporty TV.
“It’s historic for Ghana, being the first player to move straightly from here to Barcelona is great news for Ghana,” he added.
Oduro has drawn comparisons to Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich’s left-back. Nevertheless, he takes inspiration from Alejandro Balde of Barcelona and is excited about joining him in the dressing room.
“It will be a great feeling because I have always watched him play, and I admire him a lot, so it will be a great feeling for me,” he said.
Oduro has been allowed to start at Barcelona B, and if he performs well this season, he may have a chance to debut with the first team.
