Midfielder Ernest Ofori leads a promising wave of young stars who have risen from Ghana’s National U15 ranks to earn their place in the Black Starlets squad for the 2026 African U17 Cup of Nations.
The Great Somas playmaker has shown impressive development alongside teammates Joseph Narbi and Mark Kagawa, who all featured in the 2023 UEFA U16 Development Tournament.
Six months ago, Ofori was part of the squad that competed in the WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire. He served as deputy captain under head coach Prosper Nartey.
Ghana has been drawn in Group D alongside Senegal, South Africa, and Algeria for the tournament, scheduled to take place in Morocco from May 13 to June 2.
The competition, which doubles as a qualifier for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, marks Ghana’s return to the continental stage after an eight-year absence.
