Liverpool has reportedly taken their first steps toward signing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, as they look to inject fresh firepower into their attack.
Although no official offer has been tabled, SportTribune reports that the Reds have signaled their intent for the much-admired Ivory Coast international.
Diomande’s talents have not gone unnoticed, with both Manchester giants and several other European clubs believed to be keeping a close eye on his progress.
Earlier reports from Germany suggested that Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also in pursuit of the gifted winger, while RB Leipzig are determined to secure his future with a new deal.
The 21-year-old has previously spoken openly about the prospect of joining PSG. In an interview with French outlet Telefoot, Diomande admitted that a move to the French champions would appeal to him.
“It would be a pleasure to play in Ligue 1 for one of the biggest clubs,” he said.
“I’ve enjoyed playing in France before, and I don’t think adapting to French football would be difficult. So why not? But at the moment, I’m still an RB Leipzig player. Diomande has also expressed his admiration for PSG, especially after witnessing their triumph in consecutive UEFA Champions League finals.
“Yes, I was happy because my father supports PSG, so it was great to see them win,” he said.
When asked directly whether he would like to play for the Parisian club in the future, the winger responded: “Yes, I like them a lot.”
With Europe’s elite clubs circling, Diomande is poised to become one of the most sought-after names in this summer’s transfer window.
