Azumah Nelson honors late trainer Attuquaye Clottey at Zoom Zoom Clinics debut

At the unveiling of his “Zoom Zoom Clinics,” Azumah Nelson, a renowned Boxing Hall of Famer, expressed gratitude to his late trainer, Attuquaye Clottey, for the immense impact he had on Nelson’s world championship journey and personal development.

Clottey, a renowned boxing trainer and creator of the Akotoku Academy, is remembered for developing the talents of numerous Ghanaian world boxing champions, such as David Kotei Poison, Azumah Nelson, Alfred Kotey, and Nana Yaw Konadu.

In partnership with the Ghana Boxing Federation and sponsored by GCB Bank, Azumah Nelson plans to pass on the discipline and determination he learned from his former trainer through the Zoom Zoom Clinic, following in Clottey’s footsteps. He aspires to uplift and give power to young individuals throughout the nation.

During the clinic’s launch in Accra today, Nelson highlighted the duty of the present generation to guide young individuals toward becoming exceptional leaders in any field they desire.

Nelson emphasized the role of his coach, Attuquaye Clottey, in teaching him boxing and inspiring him to become the best globally.

“Having mentors is essential for finding the right path to greatness. We are responsible for instructing young people to become outstanding future leaders. Empowering youth through Zoom Zoom Clinics to excel in life with valuable life lessons.”

“If I could do it, they could also achieve great things. By working hard, remaining focused, practicing humility, avoiding drugs, and heeding their instructors and mentors. Our destinations include Tamale, Kumasi, Takoradi, and Accra. I hope to see you all there.”

Yaw Sakyi, the Zoom Zoom Clinics project lead, revealed that Nelson will engage with children and young adults between 12 and 18 at primary schools in four regional capitals: Tamale, Kumasi, Takoradi, and Accra.

Nelson will personally teach students essential lessons like discipline, perseverance, and the importance of hard work in the clinics and classrooms beginning on July 13 in Tamale.

According to Mustapha Ussif, Minister of Youth and Sports, the Zoom Zoom Clinics are dedicated to developing talent, encouraging discipline, and advancing overall well-being through sports.

He mentioned that the Sports Ministry is fully committed to supporting programs like the Zoom Zoom Clinics, which strive to create an inclusive space for young people to pursue their passions and achieve their goals.
