D.C. United clawed their way back from an early deficit to snatch a hard-fought 1-1 draw at CF Montréal, as Tai Baribo’s second-half equalizer rescued a valuable point for the Black-and-Red.
After a scoreless opening half, Montréal took the lead in the 50th minute when Prince Owusu converted from the penalty spot following a VAR review.
D.C. United answered back in the 67th minute when Baribo soared above the defense to nod in Kimito Nono’s pinpoint cross, leveling the score. Baribo notched his 12th goal of the season, while Nono marked his D.C. United debut with a memorable assist.
Baribo played the full 90 minutes, recording two shots, including one on target.
Nono wasted no time making his mark in his Black-and-Red debut. Beyond setting up the equalizer, the midfielder tallied nine defensive interventions during his 81 minutes on the pitch.
Defender Sean Nealis anchored the backline with authority, racking up 10 clearances and three recoveries across the full 90 minutes.
Goalkeeper Sean Johnson was also instrumental in helping D.C. United secure the point on a milestone night. Making his 450th MLS appearance, Johnson moved into third place on the league’s all-time appearances list and produced seven saves to keep Montréal at bay.
