Ghana has climbed to 65th in the latest FIFA World Rankings following an encouraging campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars moved up eight places from the previous rankings, registering the second-largest improvement in the FIFA update. Only Norway recorded a bigger rise, climbing 12 positions.
The leap follows Ghana’s run to the Round of 32, marking the nation’s first appearance in the World Cup knockout stages since the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
Ghana began their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Panama before earning a goalless draw against England. They suffered a 2-1 defeat to Croatia in their final group match but advanced as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams. Their journey ended in the Round of 32 with a narrow 1-0 loss to Colombia.
Despite the progress on the global rankings, Ghana remain 14th among African nations in the latest continental standings.
The improved ranking is a welcome boost for the Black Stars ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where they will look to build on the momentum from their World Cup campaign.
