Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz says he will work on strengthening Ghana’s defence and making the team more effective in attack before their FIFA World Cup Round of 32 match against Colombia.
Ghana lost 2-1 to Croatia in their last Group L match on Saturday. Defensive mistakes hurt their chances, even though the team played well overall.
Petar Sučić and Nikola Vlašić scored for Croatia, while Derrick Luckassen got the equaliser for the Black Stars.
After the loss, Queiroz said the tournament is now at its toughest stage, where every mistake counts and only wins matter.
He said the group stage was good preparation, but the knockout rounds will demand even more from the team.
Although Ghana finished third in Group L, they advanced to the Round of 32 as one of the top third-placed teams. They will play Colombia at Kansas City Stadium on Saturday, and Queiroz wants the team to be more disciplined and efficient.
