Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz says he is fully confident in his team as Ghana prepares for their first Group L match against Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana’s campaign starts at BMO Field, with the match set for 23:00 GMT. The four-time African champions hope to reach the knockout stage for the first time since their memorable quarter-final run in 2010.
At his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Queiroz talked about how unpredictable football can be. He said success is never guaranteed and has to be earned through effort and commitment during the game.
“The final outcome of football is always a mystery. We never know because there is no formula that guarantees success in football,” Queiroz said.
“It all depends on what you do on the day and how committed you are throughout the game.”
Queiroz, who has coached at several World Cups, also pointed out that players are the key to deciding the outcome of matches.
“After all these years, I firmly believe football is a game decided by players,” the former Egypt manager stated.
“Once the match begins, I place my trust in my players, and I believe they are ready for the challenge.”
After playing Panama, Ghana will take on England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. They will finish their Group L matches against Croatia on June 27.
The Black Stars are aiming to reach the knockout rounds for the first time in 16 years as they look for a strong World Cup run.
