GFA backs Queiroz to steer Black Stars to 2026 World Cup success

Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has expressed confidence in Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, backing the Portuguese tactician to lead Ghana to a successful campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars are gearing up for their fifth shot at football’s grandest stage, set to unfold across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Ghana finds itself in Group L with Panama, England, and Croatia, aiming to recapture the magic of their unforgettable 2010 quarter-final run by breaking into the knockout stages once again.

In their build-up, Queiroz’s squad recently battled Wales to a 1-1 draw at Cardiff City Stadium, using the match as a crucial test of their tournament readiness.

Speaking to DW TV, Asante Twum voiced his strong support for the former Real Madrid manager and expressed belief in his ability to guide the team to success.

“In football, there will always be differing opinions, but Carlos Queiroz has worked with some of the finest talents the game has produced,” he said.

“We have full confidence in him, and we believe he has what it takes to lead the Black Stars at the World Cup and make Ghana proud,” Asante Twum added.

Ghana’s Group L journey kicks off against Panama at BMO Field on June 17, followed by a clash with England at Gillette Stadium on June 23, before wrapping up the group stage against Croatia on June 27.

With Queiroz at the helm, the four-time African champions are determined to break their 16-year group stage drought, eager to move past early exits in 2014 and 2022.
