Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey is back in full training, determinedly chasing a fresh start with a new club as the 2026/27 season approaches.
At 25, Lamptey finds himself clubless after a challenging stint with ACF Fiorentina, where injuries cut short his ambitions in Italy. He had arrived from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2025 on a three-year deal, but persistent fitness setbacks kept him from making his mark.
While at Fiorentina, the former Chelsea academy talent managed only two appearances and a mere 25 minutes on the pitch before yet another injury halted his momentum.
Now fully recovered from a serious ACL injury, Lamptey has thrown himself back into training, intent on rebuilding his career and seizing a new opportunity.
Although he has regained full fitness, the versatile full-back was not included in Ghana’s final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by head coach Carlos Queiroz.
As the tournament unfolds without him, Lamptey is focusing on finding a new club and reclaiming his place in regular first-team football, eager to revive his career.
