Benjamin Asare believes the Black Stars are on a mission to show Ghanaians that this squad can make the nation proud at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He insists that the team must earn the fans’ confidence with their passion and performance on the field.
Ahead of Ghana’s final World Cup warm-up against Wales, the goalkeeper acknowledged the doubts swirling around the team but emphasized that the players are determined to win over the public and change minds.
“We’ve started our preparations for the World Cup, and we must do everything possible to succeed so the fans can believe in us and trust the team,” Asare said.
He also appealed to Ghanaians to continue supporting the team even during difficult moments.
“We may experience setbacks, but we need to remain confident moving forward. That is what will help us show Ghanaians that this group of players is capable of making them proud and happy,” he added.
Asare also spoke about the fierce competition within the squad, particularly among the five goalkeepers in camp, but made it clear that unity is the team’s greatest strength.
“We need to stay united as a team if we want to achieve our target. We trust each other, and I also have confidence in myself,” he stated.
With the final 26-man squad set to be revealed on June 1 and Ghana’s World Cup opener against Panama on June 17, Asare says the team is pouring their energy into hard work and winning back the nation’s trust.
