Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says a number of his players merit inclusion in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the club’s outstanding 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Tanko led the Yellow and Mauve to consecutive league titles in commanding style, clinching the championship with a match to spare after registering 17 wins and only five losses during the campaign.
Medeama’s impressive performances this season have strengthened calls for more home-based players to be considered for the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup.
In an interview with Nhyria FM, the former Ghana international insisted several of his key performers are worthy of national team opportunities.
“Our players deserve to be in the national team setup. We have at least four players who are good enough for Ghana — Mamadu Kamaradini, Prince Owusu, Kelvin Nkrumah, and Salim Adams,” Tanko stated.
The Medeama boss was particularly complimentary of midfielder Salim Adams, who has scored 12 goals in 28 matches this season, arguing that he deserves to be crowned the league’s Player of the Season.
“Salim Adams deserves the Player of the Season award. Looking at his performances, every coach in Ghana will agree that he has been outstanding,” he said.
Tanko further disclosed that he has followed the midfielder’s progress for years and played a significant role in his development.
“I’ve known him since his time with the U-17 national team. He’s my relative, and I also took him to U-23 tournaments, so I understand his qualities and know how to get the best out of him. We know his strength, speed, and power. He listened to our guidance and improved his attitude,” Tanko added.
Medeama will round off their season with a clash against Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
