Otto Addo has been appointed to FIFA’s Technical Study Group for the 2026 World Cup

Former Ghana head coach Otto Addo has been named to FIFA’s Technical Study Group (TSG) for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He will work with a team of 11 experts who will provide detailed tactical and technical analysis during the tournament, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The group is led by Arsène Wenger and includes several well-known figures from international football.

Addo will work alongside Jürgen Klinsmann, Gilberto Silva, Pablo Zabaleta, and Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Although Addo led Ghana to qualify for the World Cup before leaving his position less than three months before the tournament, he has now taken on a major international role as the only African member of the panel.

The Technical Study Group will watch all 104 matches at the tournament, paying close attention to tactics, new technical ideas, and physical trends shaping today’s game.

The team will analyze matches both at the stadiums and from FIFA’s performance center in Miami, using advanced statistics, video tools, and live tracking technology.

FIFA says the 2026 World Cup will use its Enhanced Football Intelligence platform, making it the most advanced data and analytics system ever used at the tournament.

Wenger said the TSG is important because it helps spot emerging trends and shape the future of football worldwide.

The panel will also help choose the official award winners during the World Cup.
