Ayew Highlights Growing Unity in Black Stars Ahead of World Cup

As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, Ghana captain Jordan Ayew is optimistic about the Black Stars’ improvement, driven by team bonding.

Speaking to Adom FM’s sports program, Ayew reflected on Ghana’s strong finish in the qualifiers, where the team recorded five wins and one draw in their last six matches.

“I believe we have a good team and, with time, we are getting better. We haven’t spent much time training together, but the unity within the squad is improving and everything is moving in the right direction,” he said.

The Ghana captain also backed the group of players who secured qualification, suggesting that major changes to the squad may not be necessary.

“I think the players who featured in the qualifiers did extremely well, so I don’t think we need many additions,” Ayew noted.

Ghana has been placed in Group L alongside England, Panama, and Croatia for the tournament, which will run from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

While noting that the final decision lies with head coach Otto Addo, Ayew emphasized that any player added to the squad must show the same level of commitment as the current team.

“Whoever joins must be ready to give everything and perform for the team,” he added.

Ghana will begin its World Cup campaign against Panama in Toronto, before facing England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia.
