Karim Zito quits as Kotoko head coach before the Hearts of Oak match

Abdul Karim Zito has resigned as head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, effective immediately.

The club’s social media channels officially announced, “Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has resigned from his role as the head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect.”

“Management has accepted the resignation, expressed its appreciation to the coach for his services, and wished him the best for the future. The new technical direction of the club will be communicated in due course.”

Zito’s resignation ends recent speculation about his future, following Kotoko’s elimination from the MTN FA Cup.

Earlier on Monday, club management stated that no final decision had been made regarding the coach, though they acknowledged being “not fully satisfied” with the team’s results.

Zito resigned before the club could terminate his contract. The contract stipulated that, if dismissed, he would be required to give one month’s notice or receive GHS 120,000.

Zito’s tenure with the Porcupine Warriors ends during a challenging season marked by inconsistent performance.

The club is now seeking a new technical leader to guide one of Ghana’s most successful football institutions into its next phase.
