After Son Heung-min announced his departure from Tottenham, he’s expected to join Los Angeles FC for about £20m.
The forward revealed in a news conference on Saturday that he will leave Tottenham this summer after 10 years at the club.
The 33-year-old seems ready to go to MLS, possibly for a record fee, maybe more than the £22.5m Atlanta United paid for Emmanuel Latte Lath in February.
He’s expected to join LAFC soon, with only paperwork and a medical left, although the transfer’s final details are still being discussed.
Son, who has a deal with Tottenham until 2026, played in what is likely to be his final game for the team on Sunday in a 1-1 preseason friendly against Newcastle in Seoul.
His Spurs teammates and the Newcastle opponents hugged him, and in the 65th minute, they honored him with a guard when he left the field. While Tottenham travels to Germany to play Bayern Munich on Thursday, where they will reconnect with Harry Kane, Son is anticipated to spend some time in South Korea.
Son has made 454 appearances for Tottenham since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, scoring 173 goals.
In May, he captained Tottenham as they defeated Manchester United in the Europa League final to win their first trophy in 17 years.
