Chief of staff wants private investment in Ghana football

Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, encouraged private investment in Ghana’s football after a recent deal for the Ghana Premier League.
The Ghana Football Association teamed up with Media General’s Adesa Production Limited (APL) on Thursday, which is an important moment in Ghanaian football.
APL will be the leading producers of the Ghana Premier League in the 2025/26 season.
“The President’s expectation is that this model will ignite transformation. He has directed that ministries, departments, and agencies align their activities to support this process. And he has further committed to reviewing its implementation periodically, to ensure that its promise translates into real and measurable success,” Julius Debrah said at the launch, which happened at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel.
“But the government cannot do this alone. The call today is to the private sector: step forward and partner with us. Ghanaian football is ready for your investment. And now, more than ever, there is a structured, transparent system to ensure your partnership yields value for both your brand and our nation.”
The authorities will give all Ghana Premier League clubs GHS 1 million before the season starts, ensuring their financial stability.
The 2025/26 season will begin in mid-September and conclude May 23/24, 2026, before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
