Myles Lewis-Skelly signs a new long-term contract with Arsenal

Myles Lewis-Skelly signed a new long-term Arsenal deal and pledged to remain humble.
According to reports, the defender has signed a contract that runs until the summer of 2030.
Last season, the 18-year-old academy graduate surprisingly excelled at left-back, breaking into Mikel Arteta’s team in December.
He played 39 games in total, scoring his first goal in Arsenal’s 5-1 win against Manchester City in February; he then copied Erling Haaland’s goal celebration, prompting Haaland to ask who he was and tell Arteta to “stay humble” during their September match.
March saw Lewis-Skelly become England’s youngest debut goalscorer, netting in their 2-0 victory over Albania.

“I’m so proud and happy,” he told Arsenal.com. “I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club. I’m a fan and it’s like a dream come true.
“I’ve embodied the values of Hale End and come through. I’ve still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that’s the most important thing to me.
“I know I’ve taken a lot of experience from the games about the positive moments, the mistakes that I’ve made. I’m definitely more ready now for the next season. I want to keep learning and keep improving.
“I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that’s always learning and stays grounded, which is so important.”
Arteta converted midfielder Lewis-Skelly, from Arsenal’s youth ranks, into a left-back, overtaking Calafiori and others in the process.
The PFA shortlisted him and fellow academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri for this month’s Young Player of the Year award.
A new contract for Lewis-Skelly comes after central defender Gabriel extended his contract to 2029. The club also wants to get Nwaneri to agree to a new deal.
