Hearts of Oak’s head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has resigned and will transition to a Special Advisor role on the Board.
In the recently concluded season, the Ivorian manager, who took over during 2023/24 and barely escaped relegation, steered the club to a top-four position. Despite his efforts, they weren’t enough because the club didn’t win any trophies.
Ouattara will be directly involved with the Board in his new role, focusing on special assignments and strategic tasks.
“The Board of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has reassigned Aboubakar Ouattara from the role of Head Coach to Special Advisor to the Board of Directors,” the club said in an official statement.
“The Board conveys its congratulations to Aboubakar Ouattara in his new role and looks forward to a good collaboration to move the club to new heights.”
In other news, Hearts have officially appointed Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, ex-Asante Kotoko coach, to a two-year contract. Preparing his team for the July 6, 2025, President’s Cup clash with Asante Kotoko at Accra Sports Stadium is his top priority.
Dramani’s plans might be hindered early by the club’s current transfer ban. A $70,000 debt from the Salim Adams transfer to New Edubiase United resulted in the ban. Hearts of Oak cannot sign new players before the September season opener because of an outstanding debt.
