Asante Kotoko’s IMC Chairman, Nana Apinkrah, is seeking government backing for the club’s upcoming 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Asante Kotoko’s Ghana FA Cup victory earns them a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The Confederation Cup’s 2025/26 season kicks off in September, starting with matches from the 19th to the 21st. Meanwhile, the coming weeks will see the completion of the round’s fixtures, prompting clubs to begin preparing immediately.
Following Kotoko’s President Cup victory over Hearts of Oak, Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams visited their dressing room on Sunday to inspire them for the Confederation Cup.
Nana Apinkrah, however, seized the opportunity to ask the government, through the Sports Minister, for assistance with their African campaign.
“The journey to Africa is very long and a very tough one. We will need your utmost support, not only personally, but also through you to the government, to aid us as we move forward with the African mission and to help our league. I have been to other places recently in South Africa, and I can say they have support and sponsorships,” he said.
Following their win over Hearts of Oak, the Porcupine Warriors will play Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa’s Toyota Cup as part of their African campaign preparations.
