In an amazing French Open men’s singles final, Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion, came back from two sets down, saving three championship points to defeat Jannik Sinner.
With Sinner on the verge of victory at 5-3 in the fourth set, Alcaraz’s dominance at Roland Garros seemed to be ending.
Matching his idol Rafael Nadal’s feat, Alcaraz secured his fifth major title at 22 years, one month, and three days old.
After receiving the trophy, not from Nadal but from 1999 champion Andre Agassi, Alcaraz exclaimed, “Jannik, your level is incredible!”
“My gratitude goes out to all those from Murcia who came to support me. This trophy is for you, too.”
“Paris, your support since the first practice of the first round has been invaluable; I’m incredibly grateful. My heart will always have a place for you”.

Alcaraz won his fifth and final, marking the first major final between two 21st-century players.
This marked the first Grand Slam final between tennis’s two best young male players, who’ve won the last six major titles.
This Roland-Garros final will be remembered as an all-time classic, a high-quality, hard-fought marathon won by the Murcia native.
With a 20-match winning streak at Grand Slams, Italian Sinner seemed set to claim the Paris title after taking a two-set lead, adding to his US and Australian Open wins.
Four straight losses to Alcaraz preceded his Rome final match last month, his return after a three-month doping suspension.
Yet, this 23-year-old was virtually unbeatable in Paris, only dropping serve thrice before the final while saving 19 of 22 break points.
