Ghanaian sprinter Abdul-Rasheed Saminu is now focused on competing in the 200m race at the World Athletics Championships.
Saminu is confident a strong performance will secure his place in the prestigious event, propelling him to global recognition.
After his national 100m record, Saminu has his sights set on the 200m at the upcoming World Athletics Championships.
The Ghanaian national 100m record holder is aiming for a sub-20-second 200m time, believing he can qualify for the World Athletics Championships.
During an exclusive interview on 3Sports with Bill Eshun, the national 100m record holder expressed confidence in qualifying for the 200m event based on his NCAA National Championship performance.
“I’m hoping to qualify for the 200m at the NCAA National Championship; I have two attempts. I’m excited to run a race, perhaps a 20.00, 20.12, or 20.15. I’m ready. I simply need to meet the requirements”.
His dedication to breaking the 20-second barrier is apparent in Saminu’s training and preparation. His strong 100m performance gives him confidence in a good showing in the 200m.
Regarding his possible participation in the World Championships’ 4x100m relay, Saminu stated that he is ready to join the team.
“God willing, I’ll be running the 4*100m relay at the World Championships again. Right now, my complete attention is dedicated to the NCAA. I understand the immense pressure involved”.
“Right now, it’s just three events [I want to compete in]. Even there [in NCAA], I’m going to run in three events” he added.
