Benteke wants the MLS Golden Boot again in 2025

Former Belgium international Christian Bekente is confident of retaining the 2025 MLS Golden Boot for this season, having won the MLS goal-king title in the 2024 season.

Benteke, who has now scored three goals in three matches, believes he is on course to achieve that goal.
In the first three games of the MLS 2025 season, Christian Benteke has scored three goals. He scored one goal away from home and one of the two goals at home. Benteke has scored one goal every ninety minutes overall.
With a league-high 23 goals, he earned a call-up to the 2024 MLS Best XI and won the 2024 MLS Golden Boot. He wants to get better at that.
“Aside from helping my team to qualify for the 2025 MLS final and winning it, my other goal is to win the goal king title race again.”

Regarding the team’s performance last Saturday, Benteke believed that, although they won, their performance in Chicago was far better. “I think we played very well against Chicago, though we didn’t win, and it was better than today. Not playing too well and winning is another positive thing for the team. Sometimes, when you know you didn’t play well, your the best football player, but you still win. And I think the future looks bright because it is only our third game, and we can improve by improving it”.
DC United has not had three points in 235 days, and Benteke believes this Saturday’s win is significant, adding that the team spoke about it as a collective concern and pledged that we will ensure we win all our matches.
