FC AshantiGold 04 have announced the departure of head coach and technical director Abdul Karim Kabutey Zito, assistant coach Ernest Okyere, and goalkeepers’ trainer Robert Dabuo with immediate effect.
The decision was confirmed in an official club statement issued on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, following a consultative meeting of the club’s Interim Management Committee held a day earlier.
Zito’s exit comes shortly after he guided the Miners back to the Ghana Premier League, playing a central role in securing the club’s promotion to the top flight.
AshantiGold have experienced a mixed return to the Premier League during the 2026/27 season, registering three wins, two draws and three defeats in their opening eight matches.
Despite the team’s relatively steady start, the club’s hierarchy has opted to restructure the technical department as the campaign progresses.
As part of the changes, Okyere and Dabuo have also left their positions.
The club confirmed that a caretaker coach has been placed in charge of the team on an interim basis pending the appointment of a substantive head coach and technical director.
In its statement, AshantiGold thanked the departing technical staff for their service and contribution to the club, and wished them success in their future careers.
The move represents a significant shift in the club’s direction, with Zito departing only months after overseeing AshantiGold’s return to Ghana’s top tier.
The Miners are now expected to begin the search for a new technical leadership team as they seek to consolidate their position in the Ghana Premier League for the remainder of the season.
