LA Galaxy forward Joseph Paintsil feels he deserves more playing time with Ghana, citing his lack of opportunities as a source of frustration.
Although a key figure for the Black Stars, Paintsil hasn’t consistently featured in recent matches.
Many fans were surprised that the officials omitted him from Ghana’s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad, especially given his impressive displays in Belgium’s top league.
In an interview with The BAC Sports Channel, the ex-KRC Genk winger expressed his unhappiness with his limited playing time, highlighting his strong performances as justification for more minutes.
“I think I should get a look in the national team, but it’s sometimes uncomfortable to be on the bench,” he said.
He recognized his lack of control over selection choices.
Paintsil hopes to be called up and play a more significant role for Ghana in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
