Following Ghana’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, the former Black Stars midfielder, expressed his frustration.
Badu openly criticized the national team’s performance, highlighting the disappointment in their overall approach and the urgent need for change.
Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud scored for Sudan in the 62nd minute, capitalizing on a defensive mistake by Ghana. Only three minutes later, Mohammed Abdelrahman struck again, repeating the same mistake and adding to the frustration of the Black Stars.
“The national team is in a ditch. We don’t need to massage anything anymore. I am tired personally; I am tired at this point. We have to be humble and go back. Because nothing is going on from local league, under 17, u-20, u-23, local Black Stars to the women’s u-17,u-20 and the Black Queens nothing is going on,” Agyemang Badu told Onua Sports.
“For the last 15 solid matches, Black Stars have won only two games. You think that last week we played, created chances, and couldn’t score, so we must win this one. If you win this one, the team is still not good. You have changed coaches six times, and still this is the same problem. I think there are people who also escape the wahala”.
“These are the players you have. This is what they are doing in their clubs and are doing very well. The moment they get to Ghana, then it turns to something else. Nothing goes on, and even controlling a ball is hard.
“Look at the goal, two defenders and the player pass between you. I wonder if they are blocking the ball or what the basic thing in football is to play it away. If you play it away, what will happen? You don’t have a team, you don’t have a character, you don’t have passion, you don’t have anything, and you can’t defend this kind of ball”.
“If you compare our two games, the set pieces we have gotten is more than 30 we have not utilized even one open play. You can’t individual play is not working set pieces too is not working,”
