Coach Nurudeen Amadu of FC Samartex 1996 is emulating the strategies of experienced coaches, Abdul Karim Zito and Evans Adotey in anticipation of his inaugural season in Africa.
Last season, the coach guided Samartex to success in the Premier League, and now they’re getting ready for their first-round match against Victoria United of Cameroon in the CAF Champions League.
Amadu aims to match the achievements of Zito and Adotey from last season with Dreams FC and Medeama SC, finding inspiration in their performances in Africa.
“It’s a privilege, and I take inspiration from any of them, like [Karim] Zito, [Evans] Adotey. Medeama as a club, what they have been able to do, we are all proud of them,” he said.
“Since it’s our debut, we are also trying to go far, trying to do our best. It won’t be easy. The technical team, the playing body, the management, and the investors, are all motivated to carry the team to a different level.”
Dreams FC and Medeama SC both made it to the group stage of their respective competitions last season. However, Zamalek ultimately prevailed and eliminated Dreams FC from the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final.
