Real Tamale United fined GHC100,000 for unregistered players

The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has fined Real Tamale United (RTU) GHc100,000 for behavior that damaged the game’s reputation.

The penalty is a consequence of breaking Section 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.

An investigation into the matchday 28 game against Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams led to the issuance of a fine.

It was uncovered that RTU FC deliberately misled match officials by substituting unregistered players for officially registered ones. This grave misconduct severely compromised the integrity of the game.

The club acknowledged the charges and asked for leniency, explaining that they resorted to using unregistered players because the registered ones declined to go.

Despite the explanation, the GFA Disciplinary Committee, unwavering in its commitment to preserving the league’s standards, regarded the actions as a severe violation of regulations and enforced a fine.

RTU’s relegation from the league means they will play in the Division One League in the upcoming season.
