Following his dismissal as Director-General, Dodzie Numekevor has been instructed to pass the baton to the Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Sports Authority despite his short tenure of six months.

He has entered the contest for the Sege constituency Parliamentary seat under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has ordered the termination of his appointment.

The letter terminating his appointment, dated September 17, 2024, intriguingly did not provide any reasons for his dismissal.

The letter, which SportsTribune.net has seen a copy of, was written by the Secretary to the President, Ambassador Nana Bediatuo Asante. It stated that the President has instructed for his appointment to be terminated and for him to be handed over to the Chairman of the NSA’s Governing Board.

Before Dodzie Numekevor took over as Director-General of the NSA, the management of Ghana’s stadiums faced significant criticism for the poor condition of the pitches, raising concerns among sports enthusiasts.

CAF revoked Ghana’s use of the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi for international matches due to technical infractions, including an unsuitable playing field. 

The decision was based on the CAF’s inspection of the September 5, 2024, match between Ghana and Angola.
