Liverpool completes the signing of Alexander Isak

Liverpool has finalized the signing of Alexander Isak, a record-breaking deal.
This agreement surpasses the £115m paid by Chelsea to Brighton for Moises Caicedo in 2023, ending this transfer window’s longest saga.
Newcastle’s blunt 37-word statement announced Isak’s sale to Liverpool, with no thanks or achievements mentioned. Having moved from Real Sociedad in 2022, the Sweden international has played 109 games for the Magpies.
The Swedish player will wear number 9, having signed a six-year contract, bringing Liverpool’s summer spending to £446m. They made £228m in sales, having spent a net amount of £218m.

“It’s been a long journey to get here,” said Isak. “But I’m super happy to be a part of this team, this club, and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of and I’m really looking forward to it.
“I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there.”
Isak added, “I think I have a lot to give; I think I have a lot to improve. I’m a striker, but I always want to give as much as possible to the team, mainly goals, but much more than that as well. I want to win everything. Yeah, [as simple as that].”

Newcastle rejected Liverpool’s offer of £110m plus add-ons for Isak.
Despite Newcastle’s £150m valuation of Isak, their position shifted as Isak wanted to leave and skipped games, stating that the relationship was over.
Isak scored 23 Premier League goals for Newcastle last season and also scored the winning goal in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley, breaking the club’s 70-year drought for a major domestic trophy.
Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in August 2022 for £63m. He scored 62 goals in 109 matches for the Magpies. Newcastle bought Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa to replace Isak, spending around £119m.
