The Sudanese national team’s assistant coach, Ignatius Fosu-Osei, sees securing a point against Ghana as a major advantage for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification hopes.
His remarks came after the Falcons and the Black Stars played to a 0-0 draw.
Despite Ghana’s overwhelming superiority and relentless pressure, Sudan’s defense stood firm and claimed a valuable point.
After the match, Osei-Fosu, a former Medeama SC coach, voiced his team’s confidence in qualifying, highlighting how the result boosted their position.
“We have always been confident from the star of the competition because we take solace in the fact that in the (2026) World Cup qualifiers, we are two points clear ahead of Senegal,” he said.
“So for us, we have always been confident that we will qualify.”
He stressed the importance of the draw in Accra and explained how it would give Team Sudan a significant advantage in qualifying.
Sudan moved to second in Group F with four points, while Ghana fell behind with just two points from three games.
