Despite a 1-1 draw against Niger, Black Stars coach Otto Addo believes Ghana still has control over qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana is now trailing group leaders Angola by five points in the AFCON qualifying series following two games.
Addo’s side gave up a late equalizer, continuing their disappointing results after losing 1-0 to Angola.
“I’m disappointed we didn’t learn the lessons from the home defeat to Angola, and we need to do better, for sure,” Addo said.
“Qualification is still in our own hands, and we can do something about it. We will, however, have to win our remaining games.”
Ghana is currently in third place, trailing second-placed Sudan by two points. They will play against Sudan twice in October.
The top two teams in the group will secure a spot in AFCON, scheduled for December 2025 to January 2026. The Black Stars failed to qualify for AFCON in 2004.
