Liverpool and Juventus have reached a £12.5m agreement for the transfer of Italy forward Federico Chiesa.
Liverpool will pay a £10m fee upfront for the 26-year-old and £2.5m in add-ons based on his first-team performances.
Barcelona was also reportedly interested in Chiesa, but they need help to create a space in their wage bill to register him. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s interest was the biggest threat to Liverpool in securing his signature.
Chiesa officially became a permanent member of Juventus in 2022, having initially joined on a two-year loan from Fiorentina. He has played 98 games for the club and scored 21 goals.
Chiesa played a key role in his country’s Euro 2021 triumph, defeating England 2-1 in the final at Wembley.
With a total of 32 goals in 131 appearances for Juventus, he had an impressive record, including 10 goals in 37 matches last season.
Nevertheless, Juventus’ new coach, Thiago Motta, has not included Chiesa in his first two squads this season.
