According to multiple local media reports, Ghana’s Black Stars will be hosting Sudan at Cape Coast Stadium.
The decision was made because the Baba Yara Stadium’s playing surface was deemed unfit for Category C matches, which resulted in the suspension of its license.
Officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspected the Accra and Cape Coast Stadiums during the weekend.
The Ministry of Sports inspected to ensure Ghana could host local matches without embarrassment.
Reports indicate that the Ghana vs Sudan match in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers will now be held at Cape Coast Stadium.
The upcoming Ghanaian schedule includes a home game against Sudan on Friday, October 11, and a trip to Libya for the return leg at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday, October 14.
The Black Stars’ campaign for their fifth continental title has had a shaky start. They suffered a 1-0 defeat to Angola at Baba Yara Stadium and were tied 1-1 against Niger in Berkane, putting them in third position in Group F with only one point from two matches.
Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif and NSA Board Chairman Seth Panwum reassured the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports that despite the obstacles, the match against Sudan will definitely be held in Ghana.
