Bibiani Gold Stars narrowed the gap at the top of the Ghana Premier League to one point by defeating title rivals Hearts of Oak 2-1 at Dun’s Park on Sunday.
Gold Stars took advantage of Medeama’s goalless draw with Swedru All Blacks, earning three points to boost their title ambitions.
Samuel Acheampong opened the scoring in the 15th minute, giving the hosts an early lead. Hearts of Oak remained competitive thanks to goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, whose key saves kept the score close at halftime. After the break, the visitors equalised in the 64th minute through Henry Kwaku Boateng, setting up a tense finish. a dramatic victory for Gold Stars, sending the home fans into celebration.
The result leaves Hearts of Oak five points behind the leaders after missing another chance to close the gap. They have not won in their last two matches since their Super Clash victory over Asante Kotoko. The leading sides keep the title race finely balanced, with Hearts of Oak occupying third place.
