LA Galaxy star Joseph Paintsil meets Chief Imam, promises to renovate Fadama Astroturf

Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil, who is based in the US, visited Sheik Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam.

Due to passport issues, the Black Stars forward couldn’t play in Ghana’s game against Niger, but he did get to meet the leader of the Ghanaian Muslim community.

Painstil and his team visited the Imam at his residence in Fadama, where the footballer developed his skills.

To give back to the community, the Los Angeles Galaxy star has committed to renovating the Fadama Astroturf.

“It was an honor to pay a courtesy call on His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, with my friends & team to initiate the renovation of the Fadama Astroturf, where my football journey began. An opportunity to honor my roots and empower the next generation of players from the community” wrote Paintsil on his social media pages.

The winger is anticipated to return to the United States in the upcoming weeks to rejoin his club for the critical stage of Major League Soccer.

With eight goals and seven assists in just 24 matches, the winger has had an impressive beginning to his MLS career.
