AFCON miss disappoints Black Stars – Former Captain Stephen Appiah

The Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has disappointed the team, says Stephen Appiah, the Vice Chairman of their Management Committee.

With a group stage record of three losses and three draws (three points), the four-time African champions did not qualify for the tournament in Morocco.

As the team prepares for World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, former captain Appiah, who led Ghana to its first World Cup, says they are determined to redeem themselves after failing to qualify for AFCON.

According to the interview on Asempa FM, the players, technical team, and everyone else connected to the team expressed disappointment.

“We didn’t win a game in the qualifiers for the first time, but the players were determined to win against Chad and Madagascar.

“The way they have been training means they want to win these games after failing to qualify for the AFCON,” he added.

Ghana plays Chad in Accra on March 20th, then Madagascar in Morocco for matchdays five and six of qualifying.
