To support their qualification for African competitions, the Confederation of African Football will grant Ghana’s teams, Bibiani GoldStars and Asante Kotoko, $100,000.
Ghana Premier League winners, GoldStars, are set for the CAF Champions League; Asante Kotoko will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, in Morocco, CAF President Patrice Motsepe announced that he would double the participation fees from $50,000 to $100,000.
To prepare for their competitions, GoldStars and Kotoko will get $100,000 each.
The new season kicks off in September, with the opening round of matches set for the weekend of the 19th-21st.
Meanwhile, the match schedule for the round will be finalized in the coming weeks, prompting clubs to begin preparations immediately.
Although GoldStars haven’t yet restarted pre-season training, Asante Kotoko began theirs last week, gearing up for Sunday’s President’s Cup match versus Hearts of Oak.
The Porcupine Warriors’ next match is against Kaizer Chiefs in the Toyota Cup in South Africa, after the President’s Cup.
